Custom tests
Custom tests are laboratory tests specifically designed to replicate the actual operating conditions of a material, component, or product when no standard covers the specific case that needs to be evaluated. Unlike standardized tests, they start with the definition of a real-world industrial problem and build a unique experimental protocol around it.
Designing a customized test involves selecting the critical variables (temperature, radiation, corrosion, fatigue, abrasion, load cycles), defining acceptance criteria, and, often, fabricating specific fixtures or tooling that allow the sample to be subjected to the exact stresses of its intended operating environment. As an external technical partner, INFINITIA does more than simply conduct the test: it defines the approach, interprets the results, and translates the findings into engineering decisions.
This capability is crucial in demanding industrial environments, where a material may comply with a general standard yet still fail in service because the standard does not account for its actual conditions of use. This is the natural domain of an industrial engineering laboratory offering advanced technical services, where standard testing falls short.

What is a custom essay?
What is it?

To understand what a bespoke test is, it is important to bear in mind that both materials and products must be certified for use. To this end, there are international quality and safety standards for these items. These range from the widely recognised ISO standard to ASTM, as well as specific standards such as those relating to structural strength, amongst others.
However, on some occasions, if the material is new or the product needs to withstand unusual conditions, there may be no applicable standard to refer to. That is when we at INFINITIA carry out bespoke setup designs and tests, simulating the specific conditions to which the product will be subjected, with the aim of ensuring that the material or component is fit for market release.
Types of bespoke tests
We tailor our approach to each project, so our bespoke testing procedures also vary. Our experience and expertise enable us to provide solutions for all types of clients. At our INFINITIA laboratory, we carry out various types of bespoke testing, depending on the type of test or technology applied to the materials and components.
We carry out tests on components and materials by exposing them to various factors such as ultraviolet light (solar radiation), temperature changes, corrosion, abrasion, etc., and simulate their service life to ensure that the product or material does not fail once it is on the market.
What are the benefits of having a custom essay written?
Benefits
We tailor our services perfectly to your needs. We validate materials by simulating specific operating conditions or real-world usage scenarios. At INFINITIA, we have all the necessary resources – both human and material – to successfully design bespoke set-ups and carry out customised tests for each of our clients. Fully bespoke tests, tailored to your requirements.
Furthermore, our team of professionals – which includes design, industrial, electromechanical and chemical engineers, amongst others – carries out this work quickly and, consequently, at a lower cost. We are experts in materials and can help you. Get in touch with us and start enjoying the benefits of testing carried out by our Quality and Testing Laboratory.

Stages of a Customized Trial

How do you conduct a customized test? Here is the step-by-step process we follow at our INFINITIA lab:
Gathering information
This first phase of bespoke testing involves gathering all the information required for the project to get underway. To this end, we speak with the client to understand the context, the requirements of the new material or product, and to identify what needs to be tested or simulated.
Experimental design
As there is no specific standard, we need to plan our actions very carefully. That is why we use various standards as guidelines, or even combine them.
Definition of laboratory tests
We design laboratory tests to validate the material or subject it to pre-determined conditions. We carry out accelerated tests — lasting a week or several months — in which the materials are subjected to conditions equivalent to those they would experience over a period of years, as we apply more stringent parameters than usual.
Comparative analysis of samples for validation purposes
We analyse different samples to validate the bespoke test. In this regard, we usually analyse a sample of this new material on the market and, at the same time, include other materials that we know will withstand those conditions, as well as others that will not, in order to compare the behaviour of the material under test.
Sectors where custom testing enables the validation of critical components
Sectors
Bespoke testing is applicable to any sector whose products operate under conditions that standards do not accurately replicate. Its value is particularly significant in industries characterised by stringent regulatory requirements, high levels of investment and serious consequences in the event of failure, where validating the actual behaviour of a component leaves no room for approximation.
INFINITIA tailors the experimental design to the specific demands of each sector, selecting the variables, test methods and acceptance criteria appropriate to each application. Six sectors are outlined below where bespoke testing is particularly critical.

Value
Thanks to our extensive experience conducting custom tests for our clients, INFINITIA has developed a high level of expertise in the entire process of designing and manufacturing setups for custom testing. We have the necessary resources to design custom setups or ad hoc assemblies for this type of laboratory testing.
We are flexible; our testing laboratory can be tailored to your needs. This is how we approached the following cases:
Design and manufacture of bespoke fixtures for laboratory testing: One of the benefits of bespoke testing or setup design is that, in our laboratory, we create customised assemblies, prototypes or fixtures to simulate those conditions and test the material. This case is a clear example.
Design and manufacture of bespoke set-ups for customised testing of metal components: We carried out bespoke tests on metal components, in which temperature cycles and splashes of a specific fluid had to be simulated simultaneously to assess the components’ behaviour in a real-world scenario equivalent to that which they would experience once launched on the market
Design of a test set-up to assess dust and water resistance in accordance with IP protection ratings: In this example, at INFINITIA we designed a test setup to obtain IP certification for dust and water resistance for a large piece of equipment, for which our client was unable to find commercially available machinery to carry out the tests
