What is an expert report?

An expert report is a document containing the conclusions and investigations of an accredited expert in a certain field, prepared for the purpose of providing testimony during a judicial proceeding, although it can also be useful in other situations where the judgment of someone skilled in a particular field is needed. In the case of trials, its importance lies, among other things, in the fact that it is considered a means of proof.

The preparation of expert reports requires the figure of the expert, who is a professional who, in order to exercise this activity, must accredit his knowledge and, in some cases, take specific courses. In addition, in the case of forensic expertise, it is the judicial authority that will assign an expert to the case to be studied.
